The history of Mlekarna Hlinsko, s.r.o. goes back to the year 1939 when the original dairy was founded and built by the firm Nestle, who commenced production in 1943. The first products were powdered milk, children´s milk, buttermilk and sweetened condensed milk. Until 1948 the firm was owned and operated by Nestle, but in 1949 the firm was appropriated by the state and it was not until May, 1993 that the firm was privatized and purchased by the private company Mlekarna Hlinsko, s.r.o.

The production of powdered milk and cream remains the mainstay of the company. Our selection and variety of milk products was expanded in 1994 to include cartoned and long-life milk. Our products have been distributed under the traditional brand name of Tatra since 1958.

One of the long term aims of our company is to produce high quality products, and in order to obtain this goal we have acquired the most modern and up-to-date equipment; the company has continuously been investing into itself and as a result we were granted ISO 9001 certification in the year 2001. In the fall of 2004 the company obtained IFS International certification, and in the same year the company won the Czech National Product Award "Klasa" for six of our products.
